undergraduate research

The active undergraduate program has many opportunities for students to get involved and gain research experience. Our NSF-REU Summer Internship Program accepts applications until February 1.

Every academic year, workshops are held to give students opportunity to share about internship experiences as well as learn about graduate school. Symposia are held every spring and fall.

Courses in undergraduate research are widely available, which often lead to undergraduate meeting presentations, publications, and research articles.

We offer advice on obtaining an academic year position, as well as information on applying for a mini-grant to help fund your research or attend a meeting.

The department also offers resources for students searching for a summer internship. In addition to the NSF-REU Summer Internship Program, there are also undergraduate openings with GLOBES and UNDERC. The College of Science and the University Undergraduate Research programs also provide summer internships, including an Alumni Mentor Internship Program as well as a Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Program. Please see our list of links for summer internships:
