Biography

My research focuses on the interplay between ecology and mutation in ecological adaptation and speciation. My primary study organism is the red osier dogwood fly, Rhagoletis tabellaria, along with its related species within the tabellaria group. The Rhagoletis species complex is a classic example of ecological speciation and has facilitated many discoveries in the realm of evolutionary biology. My focus on the R. tabellaria species group stems from its unique pattern of host shifting and adaptive radiation through both sympatric and allopatric speciation. I aim to use this group to explore the combined effects of ecology and mutation-order speciation when studied in tandem.
