Biography
Half of the world's population is at risk of contracting malaria and frontline antimalarias are quickly becoming ineffective due to the rise of antimalarial resistace. I study the molecular mecanisms by which the malaria parasite P. falciparum survives drug treatment in the human host. I am also interested in tracking the spread and expansion of known resistance-conferring genotypes throughout Southeast Asia.
