Joseph Vecchio

Biography

Joe is an IBMS PhD student in the Schorey Lab. He received his B.S. in Biochemistry from Boston College, where he studied humoral immune responses to HIV/SIV and SARS-CoV-2 infection. In the Schorey Lab, he investigates the innate immune signaling pathways that are activated by M. bovis BCG vaccination. He hopes to decipher ways to improve its efficacy as a vaccine and confer greater protection against pulmonary tuberculosis. In his free time, he enjoys taking photos around campus and going to the park with his dog, Duncan.
