Lauren Young
Schafer Lab
Biography
I aspire to utilize my synergistic backgrounds in humanities and biological sciences to become a scientist who can serve as an effective leader and dedicated cancer researcher while increasing intercultural awareness within the medical field. As a Dean’s scholar and GEM fellow, my research in the Schafer lab focuses on glucose metabolism in extracellular matrix detached cells. I also have interests in investigating the effects of lysosome membrane permeabilization on cell viability. Outside of lab, I enjoy traveling, bouldering and exploring local restaurants.
