Biography

My work is largely in the fields of ecological genetics, genomics, evolution, and bioinformatics. I am investigating the effects of the neurotoxin Tetrodotoxin (TTX) on the evolutionary ecology of caddisflies and salamanders in the Western USA, focusing on the evolutionary history of the genetic mechanisms responsible for the development of TTX resistance in caddisflies. I am using Drosophila as a model organism to evaluate the phenotypes produced by ecologically relevant sodium channel mutations through CRISPR-mediated gene editing.
