Biography

I investigate the ecology of schistosomiasis transmission, emphasizing community-driven interventions for disease control. I am passionate about understanding effective and scalable solutions to disease transmission in local communities and the communication of science to the public. I combine experiments, field studies, demographic surveys, parasitological datasets, and modeling approaches to understand the mechanisms driving disease incidence and to contribute to solutions. My research interests lie at the intersection of sustainable agriculture and disease ecology; namely, how human disease can be mitigated by improving human interactions with animals and the environment. Therefore, my interests span disease ecology, host-pathogen dynamics, agricultural ecology and animal science, sustainable community development, and Planetary and Public Health.
