Biography
Dr. Tolulope Kayode earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Genomics, specializing in Infectious Diseases, from the African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID), Redeemer's University, Nigeria. He has extensive expertise in diagnosing infectious diseases. During his Ph.D., he researched the genetic diversity and drug resistance of malaria parasites in Nigeria. He also utilized molecular biology, genomics, and serological tools to investigate viral pathogens, including Dengue, Chikungunya, Lassa, Yellow Fever, Ebola, Viral Hepatitis, and SARS-CoV-2.
Dr. Kayode's current research focuses on the emerging threat of vector-borne diseases in the African highlands in the context of climate change. This project aims to investigate how warmer conditions create favorable environments for mosquito breeding, accelerate the development of parasites and viruses within mosquitoes, and enable these vectors to expand their habitats, potentially introducing diseases to new regions.
In his free time, Dr. Kayode enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, walking, blogging, and watching anime and Marvel or DC movies.
