My research explores how metabolic interactions between bacterial species influence growth, gene expression, and biofilm formation under nutrient-limited conditions. Using Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterococcus faecalis as a model system, I investigate how secreted metabolites from E. faecalis promote P. aeruginosa growth and structural biofilm development. I integrate metabolomics, RNA sequencing, and confocal microscopy to connect metabolic cues with regulatory responses and community behavior. This work advances understanding of polymicrobial cooperation and metabolic adaptation. My long-term goal is to establish a research program focused on targeting microbial nutrient sharing and metabolic signaling to combat chronic and antibiotic-tolerant infections.
