Zhilin Ma

Zhilin Ma is a Ph.D. student at the University of Notre Dame. Her research integrates redox biology and artificial intelligence. She studies how reactive sulfur species (RSS), particularly hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), regulate cellular redox balance and stress adaptation under physiological oxygen. Her long-term goal in this area is to define how RSS coordinate cellular redox homeostasis and contribute to the prevention and treatment of redox-related diseases. In parallel, she develops LLM- and MCP-based systems to automate the extraction and structuring of biomedical data from scientific literature and figures. Her broader aim is to establish an AI-integrated experimental framework that connects mechanistic biology with automated data generation and modeling.
